Our Personal Fall Itinerary
This is one of our personal traditions — a fall itinerary we’ve been doing for 15+ years. While it’s a little “around the Loop” and not directly in our river towns, it’s absolutely worth the trip. Having said that, we’ll be out and about over the next few weeks sharing even more curated fall itineraries in Hunterdon and Bucks Counties — places we’ve personally experienced, so we can authentically share them with you.
Start with a Hike at Hacklebarney State Park
Kick off the morning in the best way: with crisp air, crunching leaves, and a hike through Hacklebarney’s gorgeous trails. It’s the perfect fall reset before diving into the day’s treats.
Cider, Dogs & Donuts at Hacklebarney Farm
No fall outing is complete without a stop here. Warm cider, their famous cider dogs, and donuts that taste like autumn itself. If you’re feeling adventurous, pair it with a hike through Hacklebarney State Park — a leaf-crunching, trail-loving favorite.
Apple Picking at Melick’s Town Farm (Califon)
Melick’s, one of the region’s most charming orchards. Stroll the rows, fill your baskets, wander the orchards, and take in the classic autumn scenery.
The Cider House at Ironbound Farm
Next, head over to Ironbound for live music, farm-to-table dishes, and their delicious cider flights. With cozy indoor seating, outdoor firepits, and plenty of room for the kids to run, it’s a destination that blends comfort and community. Reserve a table inside for their Four Seasons Tasting Room, or sip by the fire outdoors with friends.
Optional Add-Ons
Beneduce Vineyards – Known for their weekend “Group Therapy” nights with live music, firepits, and plenty of wine under the stars.
BLKSHD (Stockton) – A hidden gem blending a boutique, bar, lounge, and live music — the kind of place you’ll never want to leave.
