Tell us a little about your background and what first inspired you to get involved in revitalization projects in Bucks County.
Kevin:
I moved to Bucks County in 2005. My primary business is investing in and improving manufacturing companies, but in 2012 I began looking for office space around New Hope and Lambertville. I was surprised by how many properties—particularly along the New Hope waterfront—were abandoned or in disrepair. I live and work here, so I started looking at ways I could help bring some of those spaces back to life.
The Bucks County Playhouse, Ghost Light Inn and Ferry Market have each become destinations in New Hope. Is there a common vision connecting them?
Kevin:
Each property had its own story and potential. The Playhouse had an incredible history, the Ghost Light Inn created a new riverfront experience, and Ferry Market offered something more casual and accessible. The common thread has always been creating places that fit New Hope, bring people together and give them another reason to experience the town.
How did the idea for Ferry Market come about?
Kevin:
Small towns need destinations—places that give people a reason to come and spend time. We envisioned a market where you could choose from different foods, eat in or take something with you, all in an interesting, relaxed setting. Even the name connects to New Hope’s history. Before there was a bridge across the Delaware, this was a ferry stop. Ferry Market felt like a natural fit.
What makes a business vendor the right fit for Ferry Market?
Ryan:
We look for food-based businesses offering something unique, homemade and locally sourced whenever possible. Just as important, we want vendors who want to be part of the atmosphere—people who collaborate, try new things and support one another. Everyone brings something different to the Market, and that’s what makes it work.
What do you hope people experience when they visit?
Ryan:
We want it to feel friendly, welcoming and comfortable. Come for coffee, meet friends for lunch, have a drink, celebrate something or simply spend some time here. The Ferry shuttle, beer garden, riverfront picnic tables and events all add to that. More than anything, we want people to come, enjoy themselves and have fun.
What’s next for Ferry Market?
Kevin:
We’re expanding toward the river with a new restaurant, outdoor deck and second level with green space, a bar and incredible views of the Delaware. The goal is for everything to work together. You’ll be able to choose food from the Market vendors or the new restaurant and enjoy it throughout the space, while the upper level gives us more flexibility for events.
Ryan:
We also want the expansion to continue supporting the local community—from showcasing local artists to working with local businesses whenever possible. It’s about making the entire space feel connected to New Hope.
Just for fun—what does your perfect day look like?
Kevin:
A beautiful summer day here is pretty hard to beat. I get a lot of satisfaction from simply being at the Market, seeing people enjoying the beer garden and what we’ve created is a pretty good day.
Ryan:
I’m not sure a day off is really in my vocabulary! I love travel, the beach, Broadway and experiencing new places, but I also genuinely love what we’re doing here. Kevin and I are always coming up with the next idea and figuring out how to make it happen.
