A Story of Shared Vision
Lambert + Hope began as an idea shaped by instinct, experience, and timing. After returning from England, where he was Head of Sourcing at Soho House London, Chris Herncane found himself at a turning point. What began as a conversation with Suren Gopalakrishnan (Founder of Co.House Design & Maker’s Palm), around showcasing a furniture line quickly evolved into something far greater—a shared vision between two founders with deep backgrounds in global sourcing, product development, and design. Together, Chris and Suren set out to create a space that felt intentional, elevated, and distinctly their own.
Global Expertise Meets Curated Design
Both founders bring an extensive background in global sourcing and product development from their tenure at Anthropologie, a foundation that deeply informs the brand's aesthetic. Lambert + Hope functions as an inline brand, meaning Chris and Suren design their own exclusive ranges of dinnerware, bedding, lighting, and furniture rather than relying solely on mass-market wholesalers. To complement their signature designs, they draw on an international network of artisans and consultants—collaborating with design partners in Europe to track subtle shifts in color and trend, while sourcing traditional, hand-carved block printing techniques from the Far East. This sophisticated blend of global design expertise gives the collection an unmatched sense of uniqueness and exclusivity.
Quietly Layered, Effortlessly Balanced
Curating a retail space that feels personal, layered, and authentic requires a meticulous, daily push and pull. Entering its third year, Lambert + Hope approaches its inventory with a distinct point of view, purposefully choosing to edit rather than over-assort. At the heart of the brand is a commitment to supporting American makers and small businesses, with much of the assortment sourced and produced in the United States—from North Carolina upholstery and Amish-made dining pieces to hand-poured candles from the Catskills, pantry provisions, travel duffels and tote bags made in Maine, and everyday goods. Layered alongside globally sourced artisan pieces and heritage-made apparel, the result is a sophisticated, lived-in aesthetic that feels elevated, intentional, and deeply personal.
Slowing Down and Gathering Together
At Lambert + Hope, Pantry & Provisions and Gifting are more than just categories within the store — they are part of how the brand helps bring people together and strengthen the community. The Pantry & Provisions collection celebrates the everyday rituals of gathering, cooking, entertaining, and slowing down. From thoughtfully sourced pantry staples to small-batch goods made by passionate makers, these products encourage connection around the table and support many small American businesses along the way.
Meaningful Gestures For Every Occasion
Gifting is an important part of the Lambert + Hope experience. The collection has been thoughtfully curated to make it easy to find something meaningful, elevated, and personal for every occasion. From apothecary and signature scents to apparel, pantry items, entertaining essentials, and gifts for the chef in your life, the belief is that gifting should feel thoughtful rather than transactional.
The shop also offers travel accessories for those always on the go, cozy Lambertville town pride sweatshirts, candles, greeting cards, and countless last-minute gift ideas that still feel intentional and special. Whether shopping for a birthday, housewarming, holiday, client gift, hostess gift, or simply a small gesture of appreciation, Lambert + Hope strives to be a destination where people can discover gifts that create connection while supporting small makers and businesses at the same time.
Two States, One River Community
The identity of Lambert + Hope is deeply tied to the rhythm and charm of the Delaware River towns. Inspired by the seamless connection between Lambertville and New Hope, the shop reflects a shared sense of community that draws visitors from New York City, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Princeton, and beyond. Outside the shop, Chris finds inspiration through travel, art, architecture, and small-town markets, while Suren recharges through time spent with his family and coaching his children’s sports—both bringing a strong sense of connection, storytelling, and lifestyle into the heart of the brand.
